Yesterday, when dad got home, he and Hayden were talking about music and Cameron set up a youtube video for him to watch as he was finishing his dinner. After he was done, we all watched the video and as Cameron stepped out of the room for a moment, Hayden announced that he had to poop. Nothing unusual around here these days. Poop is a popular topic in the Mallory household. So, he went and as he was going he yells out "ARMIN VAN BUUREN!!!!" which was the name of the DJ that we were watching the video about. It came out with such gusto! Thankfully now with the help of the laxative/stool softener, he goes without much effort (although there is still some anxiety leading up to the actual "event"), but this time he must have needed a little encouragement and channeled Armin or something. Who knows. It was hysterical. However, he had a little too much enthusiasm and ended up having a blowout. Poop got inside his socks...let's just put it that way....that's hard to do people...try it sometime. Anyway...after throwing his pants and socks away and trying to clean up his poor poop riddled legs, I called for some back up. Cameron came in and the only thing we could think to do was cut his shirt off of him since we didn't want to drag it over his face and hair. So we did and he was quite upset that his beloved elephant shirt was now more like a poop-stained robe than the clean white and orange shirt he so loves. So we threw that away too and got him all clean. Then I decided a bath was in order and since it was bedtime anyway, it was perfect. Then we got the idea to ask him if he wanted to try to pee on the potty. He seemed pretty gung ho. So we went for it. He asked to stand, so Cameron did the honors. Father and son...bonding by the jon. Cameron held "it" while Hayden concentrated and finally managed to squeeze out a drop or two, neither of which made it into the toilet but just onto Cameron's fingers. Oh, the joys of parenthood! He was SO proud of himself and so were we! We did the potty dance, stuck a sticker on the quickly fashioned potty chart and hung it on the fridge for all to see! HOW EXCITING! So, for future reference...this is when this all began. -- mam
