Hayden has had an interesting week. First the lip incident, then an ear infection diagnosis, and then sleep issues. He has been having issues with his night time sleep that are still ongoing since this summer (recall the cabin incident). He wakes at least once per night, nearly every night. But, this week...he has started fighting his nap too. He had two days of short naps, then yesterday he wouldn't go down- he was saying he "didn't need a nap" that he wanted "to play"...fun, fun. I just got through telling someone at a party this past weekend that Hayden goes down to sleep easy and is very good at naps...there goes Murphy butting in again.

There has been so much going on lately, maybe he is having a growth spurt (he has been eating like crazy) or some sort of brain development going on that is making him think that he is missing things when he didn't care before.

Today was quite the day...he didn't nap again and then the power went out at around 4:30. That whole concept of not being able to turn on the lights sort of freaked him out. So, we took a drive, grabbed some dinner, and headed home for a bath by lantern light. He wasn't wanting to go down to sleep. He cried when Cameron tried to put him to bed. Then he screamed like a banshee and I thought we were in for a night of hell. But, then, just as soon as the screaming started, it stopped and he was quiet. Cameron just went in his room to check on him and he was laying down covered up. Maybe this will be some sort of crying it out breakthough for us!??! Maybe it will help his future night sleep...maybe he will never nap again. Who knows. I sure hope it is a phase. I love my break during the afternoon. But, it looks like my days might be limited. -- mam
