It was another gorgeous summer day here today so we decided to take a ride down to Edmonds and catch the ferry over to Kingston. It's about a 20 minute ride one way. We boarded as walk on passengers and just planned to ride there and back without hanging out on the other side at all (there isn't anything to speak of within walking distance of that terminal).
Hayden seemed to really enjoy it! He and Cameron watched as the cars and motorcycles loaded on. We saw a seagulls nest with two baby birds in it right next to where the ferry docks. Hayden had fun imitating their screeching noise when we got a little too close to the nest for their comfort. It was nice because Hayden could walk around freely and not really be in the way (there were not that many people on the 10am ferry thankfully). He looked out the window for a while and then we headed up to the top deck to walk around and feel the wind. He thought it was funny when a big gust came up.
We brought our new digital camera with us and took turns taking some shots of the ferry and the shoreline and surrounding landscape. It really is a nice camera and it is actually fun to take photos now that it actually acts more like a 35mm camera than a slow, laggy digital that we have been used to.
After returning to Edmonds, we walked around on the beach and boardwalk a little, watched a few trains go by and played in the sand. All in all, it was a wonderful morning and I really enjoyed being out on the water. It's been too long. -- mam
