It has amazed me both years how many people actually attend this parage show their hometown pride! There was nothing like this in our old town of Lynnwood (even though it is only a mere 5 miles from here). That might also be related to the fact that we didn't know our neighbors and never really felt "at home" for the 5 years we lived there! Here in Bothell it's different. This was instantly our home and we have felt more connected to the community here, even right in the beginning, than any other place we've lived. It's a nice feeling.

I am sure we will make a yearly tradition out of this in the future too. Next year I want to attend the pancake breakfast before the parade and concert at the Park at Bothell Landing afterwards. We can make a whole day of it. Eventually, Hayden will be into the fireworks too and I can see the Fourth of July becoming my favorite family holiday!

By the way, Hayden slept through the fireworks! -- mam
