Now, our day goes something like this: Wake up at around 7-7:30 (I don't let him sleep past 7:30 since that would "normally" screw up his nap schedule for the morning nap), eat and play until 9am...put baby down at 9am and he sleeps until 10:30-11....sounds great right...well, then we eat and play and sometimes squeeze in an errand and then he goes back down at 1pm. He is quiet for like 10 minutes, then it starts...the talking, the endless yammering coming from upstairs. I wait, he is quiet, oops, nope...he's up....oh yeah, he's up, he's crying...oh sheesh...and then he cries, and cries and I think well, maybe he will go down. I eat lunch and hope he will quiet down...but then he doesn't. He is in his room talking and crying for upwards of an hour. This may seem like a long time, but if things go like today...he will do that for an hour (crying pretty good towards the end) and then I will resolve that I am going to get him up right after I make some ruckus in the kitchen and then call someone real quick and then POOF...he's asleep! I can't take it! It's nuts...I am too much a creature of habit for this! It causes me anxiety... :-)

So...maybe I will try and ease the transition to one nap myself. Our new day may go something like this...Let him sleep in (hopefully with less sleep during the day, he might lengthen his night time sleep and thus extending his wake-up time)...eat breakfast and play, then have a heavy snack/lunch around 11 or 11:30 and then off to bed. Sleep, sleep, sleep until 2 or so and then wake up and have a snack again. Play and hang out, run errands, etc and then have dinner at 5-5:30 and then off to bed at the regular time of 7:30pm. Yeah, sounds great on paper (or screen)...we'll see how it actually goes. I am sure there will be a period of "unrest" while we are switching over.

I guess, it isn't that bad...I just have to realize that my boy is growing up and that he is going to require less sleep as time goes on. What will I do when even the one nap totally disappears! YIKES! -- mam
