Well, as you can see, Hayden was a cow for his second Halloween! He's come a long way from last year's jello-y pea pod. This year he was a wiggley, actively "Mooooing" little cow.
The festivities started this morning when we attended a costume carnival at the community center with a few other moms from my mom's group. Hayden actually tolerated wearing his costume for nearly 45 minutes. I put it on when we arrived there (since wearing it in the car would have made him sweat bullets!) and I quickly realized that he has grown quite a bit in the last month. When I purchased the costume in mid-September, it fit him just fine. Now, he was donning a pair of highwaters! It barely fit in the body and about 4 inches of legs (I mean hooves) were showing! Oh well...
Our second outing as the prized holstein was after Cameron got home from work. Hayden and I met him at our friend's house where we visited a few of their neighbors. Then we came home and did the rounds in our cul-de-sac. All in all, a very successful Halloween. We learned where the "good" neighborhoods were from our neighbors, so that when Hayden gets older we will know where to head first!
Unfortunately, we didn't have too many trick-or-treaters ourselves. We were thinking that we would get quite a few and bought enough candy to support that assumption. Boy were we wrong. Only about 4 groups of kids came (all of which walked away quite happy after I gave them a huge handful of candy...better them than us eating it!).
Next year will be great...watching him toddle up to the door bell, saying trick-or-treat, then running with excitement to the next house, and fighting him for the good candy later on at home! Oh...I can't wait... -- mam
