The heel poke was to test for anemia (at around 9 months, babies (breastfed or not) start to deplete their iron stores from birth). His levels were fine and we will just keep breastfeeding (I am still taking prenatal vitamins which helps transfer iron from me to him) and eating spinach - go popeye!

His measurements were interesting:

Weight: 18 lbs 4 oz (a drop to the 25th percentile- this is typical at this age...the growth rate starts slowing down weight-wise, and they start to grow in length and slim out getting rid of some of the baby fat)

Height: 28 3/4 inches (an increase to the top of the charts- about 80th percentile, which supports the above explanation)

Head: about 18 1/2 inch circumference (yes, it's still above the 90th percentile)

Our next appointment is just after his 1st birthday! WOW, that is amazing to think that he will be a year old in just a few months! -- mam
