We told Hayden last night, before putting him to bed, that Santa won't come to the homes of little boys who wake up at night. Well...the fear of Santa worked! He slept through for the first time in his entire life!! If you can't already tell, I am excited. We put him to bed at around 7:45pm and I fed him at 11pm before we went to bed. Then he slept until 4:30am when he woke up for a few minutes (I went to check on him) and then he was back asleep until 6! YES!

I should also mention that the night before last was the first night we tried the "sleep training". Basically, we decided that if he woke up before 4am we were going to let him cry it out. We had been planning this attack for over a week to mentally prepare ourselves for a night of hell. What we got wasn't nearly as bad as what we expected. Hayden woke up at 1:30am and we went to check on him. We waited it out 15 minutes (people warned us that he could cry for up to 45 minutes before settling himself back down...and as previously mentioned, I can't stand more than 5 minutes, so I was worried!) while he cried and then he was back asleep until 4:30am. I determined that that was close enough to morning for the first time through, so I fed him and put him right back to bed...he then slept until 6:30am.

So...one night of a little crying and he sleeps through the night for the first time....what a christmas present for mommy! We'll see if it lasts! I am hopeful... -- mam
