Hayden had his 2 month old doctor's visit today. Cameron and I went together (I needed moral support while he got his shots). They did all of his measurements, so here are the stats:

Weight: 11 pounds 12 ounces (63rd percentile) Height: 24 inches (85th percentile) Head: 16 1/2 inch circumference (91st percentile)

So...ok, he has a big noggin! It really doesn't look THAT big...I don't think it does anyway.

Everything else looked good. He passed all of his milestone tests....like tracking with his eyes, holding his head up for a few seconds, smiling, being awake more during the day, and being able to comfort himself to sleep.

Then came the shots....ugh....he had to get 4 total. Polio, DTaP (Diphtheria, Tetanus & Pertussis), and 2 for Meningitis. He screamed. Then they gave him some Garfield band-aids and we left. He calmed down pretty quickly and slept all the way from the doctor's office to home and then for an additional 2 1/2 hours in his swing after that. He woke up extremely unhappy. We had given him a dose of Tylenol at the office and he wasn't due for another one until 3pm, so from 1:30-3 (after a feeding) we snuggled. He would cry anytime I moved, so needless to say I got a charley horse in my neck trying to stay as still as possible. I didn't want to make him cry again...it wasn't his normal cry either...it was the red-faced, open mouthed, can't breathe, severely pissed-off kind of cry, that just looks painful. So, I wanted to avoid that at all costs. He slept a little more in my arms and then woke up to eat at 4pm. I had given him his second dose of medicine and between that and the food he seemed mostly back to his old self. Smiles and all. That made mom happy!

Here is a picture showing off his band-aids and also just how long he is (2 feet tall already!). He cooperated by stretching out as much as possible.

Next appointment is at 4 months...more shots to come...yikes! Pretty much every appointment until he is 2 y/o he gets at least one, and then the last set come just before Kindergarten at age 5. After that it is just a booster every now and then.

He is growing like a weed and we are enjoying every minute as he sneaks out little glimpses into his personality. He is a very sweet little boy- especially now as I write this and he sleeps soundly in his swing, with his tiny hands folded on his chest. We just love him so much! -- mam
