This sort of seems to work, but not as well as we'd like. From what we've been reading this is most definitely a short term thing (1st week or 2 seem to be the hardest for both parents and baby). The interesting thing seems to be that during the nights he really doesn't like to go down unless he's being held.
The odd thing is, is that during the day he will sleep on his own no problem. Nights are different. He doesn't like the crib with the wedge, the car-seat with towels on each side. Either of the previous with hands swaddled in or out, nor does he seem to like the new baby snuggler nest thing we got yesterday (a co-sleep device you put in between your pillows).
What he does like is for you to put the baby boppy around your waist, wrap him up with his arms out and then for you to sit there for awhile watching TV or whatever you can think of to entertain yourself while he sleeps ;-). I've gone ahead and taken this shift, and it has included me catching up on Rambo 3 and Broken Arrow. Tonight was Grease, and I just put in Contact.
Another experiment is that I'm downstairs and have him in his seat and he seems to not mind that at all.
That's all for now. -- cjm
